At Henley Damp Proofing we are professional woodworm, dry rot and wet rot timber treatments specialists covering Maidenhead, Reading, Basingstoke, Oxford, Heathrow and West London.

Woodworm Treatments

We specialise in effectively treating woodworm Infestation or Wood Boring Beetle. Typically in residential building we treat joists, wall plates, bearers, sub floor timbers and the underside of the floorboards. The area is then treated with insecticidal timber preservative.

The different types of wood boring beetles and their larvae have different characteristics and require different treatment in order to stop and control an infestation.

Our qualified team will carry out a full diagnostic survey to identify the type of woodworm infestation and assessment of the damage caused to the timbers.

Timber Treatments
Act Fast To Stop The Damage

The only real way to remove woodworm and the beetles that cause it from your home is with a proper survey of the timber within your property, and a careful pest removal service.

The quicker a woodworm infestation is caught and eradicated, the less damage will take place to your home and furniture.

Wood can be infected with larvae and eggs without any noticeable symptoms, and you may not notice an infestation for several years.

What are the signs of woodworm?

The tell-tale signs of woodworm can include adult beetles emerging from holes in the house, fine powdery dust around the holes in woodwork, and more. Importantly, many people believe that woodworm only happens in older homes, but the truth is that larvae can also be found within newer properties too. The quicker a woodworm infestation is caught and eradicated, the less damage will take place to your home and furniture.

What is is the most common type of woodworm?

The Common Furniture beetle is the most widespread across the UK; however Death Watch, House Longhorn and Powder Post beetles can also infest timbers. With time, these wood boring insects will greatly reduce the strength of the timbers they infect. Infestations often go unseen – as the main damage is caused inside the wood for several years before adult beetles emerge through ‘exit’ or ‘flight’ hole.

Wet and Dry Rot Treatments

Wet rot is a type of fungal decay that affects damp timber. Other than timber, you can also find it in plaster, carpet and wallpaper where there is a high level of moisture.

Dry rot is undoubtedly the more severe and serious type of fungal decay for timber. This fungus attacks timber and can spread without a single trace of external moisture. It turns into rot by digesting the timber itself and can spread and seriously damage the rest of the building.
